چکیده
The Direct Anterior Approach for Total Hip Arthroplasty By E. Marc Mariani, MD, and Michael H. Bourne, MD Background The direct anterior approach to total hip arthroplasty offers several advantages, including utilization of the supine position, use of anatomical intervals for soft-tissue preservation, and use of intraoperative fluoroscopy for verification of acetabular and femoral prosthetic position. Correct femoral offset and length are also facilitated.

In-Hospital Outcomes after Hemiarthroplasty versus Total Hip Arthroplasty for Isolated Femoral Neck Fractures
Background: Previous studies suggest total hip arthroplasty may have some benefits compared to hemi-arthroplasty for displaced intracapsular femoral neck fractures in patients more than 60 years of age. The primary research question of our study was whether in-hospital adverse events, post-operative length of stay (LOS) and mortality in patients 60 year of age or older differed between tot...
متن کاملA challenge on Orthopedic Sciences: The Influence of Spinal Disease and Deformities on Total Hip Arthroplasty: A Review on Literature
Background: Adult degenerative disorders of hip and spine are common. The recent studies inconsistently havediscussed about the influence of spinal disorders on total hip arthroplasty (THA). In this review, we discussed clearlyabout these relationships and their effects on the most appropriate position of the acetabular component. Methods: We searched on databases and evaluated the articles abou...
متن کاملPartial 2-Stage Revision in Chronic Hip Arthroplasty Infections: A Review
Background: Periprosthetic hip infections (PHIs) are troublesome complications of hip arthroplasties. The gold standard procedure for treating chronic PHI is a 2-stage approach. Recently, however, more conservative approaches have been developed to spare the osseointegrated components and avoid sequestra, bone loss, devascularization, and difficult reconstructions. The partial ...
متن کاملComparison of outcome measures and complication rates following three different approaches for primary total hip arthroplasty: a pragmatic randomised controlled trial
BACKGROUND Total hip arthroplasty is one of the most commonly performed surgical procedures worldwide. There are a number of surgical approaches for total hip arthroplasty and no high-level evidence supporting one approach over the other. Each approach has its unique benefits and drawbacks. This trial aims to directly compare the three most common surgical approaches for total hip arthroplasty....
متن کاملTotal Hip Arthroplasty with Modular Stem for Dysplastic Hips in South Asian Population
Introduction: Optimum component positioning and orientation is required to optimize the functional result during total hip arthroplasty for dysplastic hips. Patients and methods: Sixty-two patients (66 hips) including 33 males and 29 females underwent total hip arthroplasty using modular stem prosthesis at an average age of 40.6 years (range 17 to 49 years). Nineteen hips were clas...
